Main Purpose of Job

The mission of the Maryland Board of Physicians is to assure quality health care in Maryland through the efficient licensure and effective discipline of health providers under its jurisdiction, by protecting and educating clients/customers and stakeholders, and enforcing the Maryland Medical Act.
The main purpose of this position is to provide the full range of administrative support to the Allied Health and Physician Licensure Unit. The position supports the mission of the Board by providing independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policy. The position is responsible for data entry from initial and reinstatement applications in BPQA database, downloads electronic verifications received via email to the Board, file/retrieve credentials, matches and assigns credentials and miscellaneous documents to analysts using the tracking system, create and distribute applicant initial licensure, and reinstatement folders to analysts in a timely manner. Scan credentials to the Board's shared network drive. Follows established procedures for processing applications. Provides verifications of practitioner's license or registration. Reviews and processes applications for name change and replacement license in accordance with the regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
- Experience with reference and research methods and techniques used in collecting, compiling, and organizing data

- Experience preparing and presenting ideas and information clearly and concisely,

- Experience applying laws, rules, regulations and statutes

- Experience with Microsoft and Google Suites
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
