This is accomplished by supervising assigned staff, analyzing and overseeing the divisional budget, supporting cost recovery goals, monitoring work progress performed by staff, and ensuring facility operations and general maintenance are scheduled and completed. This position provides direction to other employees.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent. Oversees the operation of the recreation facility, its staff, and associated programs by managing the budget for facility programs and personnel, ensuring the quality of recreation and fitness programs, establishing and upholding policies and procedures, and enhancing the members and guests experience. Additionally, developing annual strategic action plans for programming, marketing and sales to meet budgetary objectives.Leads personnel management by overseeing the hiring process, including selecting candidates and conducting interviews for open positions. Provides comprehensive training and fosters a positive work environment. Regularly evaluates staff performance through performance reviews, facilitates staff meetings, creates schedules, and supports staff in meeting expectations. Addresses staff concerns and suggestions and administers disciplinary actions when necessary.Manages the recreation/fitness division budgets to achieve cost recovery by optimizing revenue and controlling expenses. Reconciles financial transactions and records, processes and approves refunds, monitors payroll activities for staff and contract employees, and maintains inventory. Manages and remedies the divisions' pricing of services, revenue performance, and expenses to meet forecast goals as necessary.Oversees the development of facility programs by generating program descriptions, recruiting instructors, developing programming schedules, reviewing instructor contracts, and supervising recreational activities and sports leagues. Ensures accurate and timely program data entry for brochure periods. Ensures the maintenance of a clean and orderly facility, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order. This includes procuring preventative and repair maintenance services for the facility and its equipment. Ensures customer service by addressing and resolving complaints from the public, makes discretionary decisions regarding customer-related issues, educates and trains staff on customer service practices, and support staff in meeting expected customer service delivery goals.Serves as Rotating Supervisory on Duty. May work varied shifts including opening, closing, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
