Commonwealth Academy is seeking to hire a School Counselor to join its team for the 2024-2025 school year. The Counselor will work with our Upper School students (Grades 9-12). The Commonwealth Academy Counseling Program is a comprehensive, developmental school counseling program designed to create and maintain an inclusive, safe, nurturing, and supportive climate in which students with ADHD, ASD, and various learning differences are empowered to engage in academic risk-taking and achieve social success as they reach their true potential as successful learners- educationally, socially, and personally. Through character development and school/career success skills, the Counseling Program promotes the academic, emotional, and personal/social growth and development of all students as they prepare for the challenges of college, career, and life pursuits, becoming lifelong learners who are contributing citizens within diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Division Heads, Department Chairs, Faculty, and families to promote student success.
• Be proactive in approach to supporting students and families. 
• Develop student programming and parent/community informational sessions to support student mental health.
• Develop and implement Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons.
• Manage and run the CA Buddies program (program aimed at connecting Upper School and younger students).
• Continue to expand programming to support the social/emotional well-being of the Upper School student body.
• Provide support and guidance to faculty, e.g. with effective classroom strategies. 
• Maintain regular communication with families, as required, relevant, and appropriate.
• Remain current on best practices and research in field of expertise.
• Collaborate with the Lower/Middle School Counselor to ensure continuity of program and delivery of content.
• Collaborate with School Nurse and PE department on Wellness and Family Life program. 

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate must have school counseling experience and be licensed and/or certified in school counseling (those eligible, but not yet licensed will be considered).
• Have a proven track record of strong professional integrity.
