Research Assistant/Staff Requisition ID req29467 Working Title Research Assistant/Staff - Northup Position Grade 06 Position Summary
Regrows freezer stocks of bat microbiome bacteria.Checks to make sure they are the same morphology as original, and if not, performs a sequencing reaction to compare to the original sequence to ensure identity to original. Once the regrown bacterial culture is verified as identical to the original, create a new freezer stock. Assist with other projects in the lab as needed. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED;at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities which may include practicum. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Experience with microbial culturing and sequencing. Ability to extract DNA, perform PCR reactions, and sequence the 16S rRNA gene from the DNA. Data management of culture sequences and cultures.
