Position Summary:Integrate computer and network systems into the UNMH/HSC data network. Provide complex, high-level technical support for computer and network systems. Develop new and/or improved network management techniques and procedures. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- NETWORK - Formulate, develop, and implement integrated network architectures for medium-to-large systems
- NETWORK - Develop standards for computer and network systems, to include standards for wiring, equipment, network security, and interoperability
- NETWORK - Develop and implement standards for network and communications security to protect the integrity and confidentiality of the patient record in compliance with state and federal requirements
- MANAGE - Provide project management to technical staff in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of computer and network architecture
- PROJECTS - Coordinate projects with other departments and external organizations and agencies
- DIRECTION - Provide planning, leadership, direction, and advanced technical expertise regarding computer and network services for both local and HSC-wide area networks, and the Internet
- NETWORK - Serve as high-level computer/network expert
- COORDINATE - Serve as primary point of contact and liaison with vendors; review vendor products, and coordinate and facilitate vendor interviews and presentations
- REQUIREMENTS - Negotiate exact technical requirements with vendors; establish contracts, and write technical contract specifications and proposals
- TRAINING - Design, develop, and deliver training classes and workshops in areas of computer and network systems
- NETWORK - Install, configure, and maintain computer and network operating system and application software, as appropriate; provide on-call support for computer/network systems as required
- KNOWLEDGE - Maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging state-of-the-art computer/network systems technologies, architectures, and products
- BUDGET - Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures

- Related Discipline
2 years directly related experience
Nonessential:IP Multicast, BGP, Network High Availability, Research/High Performance Networks, WAN Protocols, and Wireless experience
