Licenses And CertificationsCandidate must have or be eligible to be licensed as an MSW, LPC or LPC-MH.
Knowledge OfThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- ethical standards, principles, and practices of social work, counseling, and human behavior;

- interviewing and other information gathering techniques;
- state mental health practices and procedures;
- family counseling dynamics;
- group counseling dynamics;
- treatment planning processes and therapeutic techniques;
- developmental disabilities;
- severe mental illness;
- evidence-based and treatment modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivationl Interviewing (MI);
- principles of basic human behavior across the lifespan;
- therapeutic communication skills;
- co-occurring disorders;
- effective written and verbal communication skills;
- documentation and record keeping;
- computer applications.
- develop cooperative and satisfactory contacts with patients, relatives, physicians, social agencies, community officials, and otheradministrative officials;
- apply proper interviewing techniques;
- write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports and correspondence;
- establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations;
- communicate effectively with a wide variety of people;
- develop and implement effective therapy, treatment approaches and teaching curriculum;
- oversee treatment programming;
- facilitate individual, group and family counseling and therapy;
- speak to groups;
- negotiate with various agencies;
- obtain reliable information;
- provide clinical oversight to direct treatment;
- develop evidence-based group curriculum;
- work with individuals with complex family dynamics;
- match treatment modalities to a wide range of behavioral and cognitive functioning individuals;
- utilize various computer applications such as Outlook, Internet, Word and keyboarding.
