Duties

Maintains version control of all operating systems and standard supported software.
Schedules, monitors, and verifies the integrity of system backups and restores data as needed.
Reviews audit logs and vulnerability reports then corrects security vulnerabilities in assigned systems as needed.
Supports and documents IT systems configuration.
Aids in the preparation of change requests and configuration management submissions.
Assists with authoring and executing detailed test plans.
Provides routine advice and guidance to customers requesting information on established policy or procedures.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the education and/or specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.
To qualify at the GS-07, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-05 level in federal service having demonstrated experience in the federal service that demonstrates performance of tasks in three of the following five areas: (1) collect information and report customer hardware/software issues and findings to others; (2) work with others to maintain customer account and system access (3) monitor networks and systems (4) recognize problems associated with failed systems and present findings to others; (5) provides customer service support for various requests.
You could otherwise qualify on the basis of Education having one year of successfully completed graduate level education (18 semester hours, 27 quarter hours or the equivalent) in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or course work that required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems and provided knowledge equivalent to a major in the computer field OR Super Academic Achievement based on undergraduate study with a degree in computer science, information science, technology management, information systems management, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering, or a degree that required a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of computer programs and systems. You may combine specialized experience and education to meet the minimum qualifications.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

This vacancy announcement allows substituting education for experience. You must submit a copy of college transcript(s) (unofficial copy is acceptable) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include the name of the college or university and date the degree was conferred. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement.
