The main objective of the Director of Operations is to drive the focus on safe, efficient job completion, oversee all daily functions of the Residential and Commercial Production Departments, and achieve consistent customer satisfaction through online reviews. The list of job duties for the Director of Operations on any given day may include, but is not limited to, the following:

Job Duties

• Lead, Manage, and hold accountable the Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, Production Manager, Field Managers, and all other Operations staff based on specific roles and priorities identified in L10 weekly meetings.
• Responsible for maintaining pace for number of jobs completed and revenue earned.
• Facilitate safety program through scheduled training, toolbox talks, certifications and on-site verification of procedures.
• Enforce company safety policies, ensuring proper PPE and equipment are available and in use at all times.
• Maintain positive image and ensure customer experience is 5 star worthy.
• Handle customer issues that exceed thresholds set for FMs and Production/Service Managers as well as other escalations.
• Responsible for workforce development including product and installation training and manufacturer’s certifications.
• Develop and oversee all internal training programs for technical skills, ensuring the “Van Martin Way” is followed by all.
• Ensure routine quality inspections are being performed with action plans generated from the deficiencies.
• Ensure VM has adequate resources available to complete the projects. Time, treasure and talent. This includes the timing available to perform the work, available cash flow and recruiting as needed to facilitate completion of work.
• Continually monitor and update processes as needed to facilitate smooth operations and positive customer experience. Update process management system when applicable.
• Responsible for department budget creation and adherence, participation in monthly and quarterly budget reviews
• Drive margin through labor efficiency and COGS reductions. Maintain profit projections for the department.

Skills and Qualifications

• Emotional Intelligence with very strong people and communication skills
• Very Strong understanding of financial forecasting, budgeting and job expenses
• Ability to identify strengths/weaknesses of a team, using a targeting training approach to develop
• Servant Leader, able to promote and apply VM core values
• Ability to properly setup and climb ladders, navigate sloped surfaces and lift up to 100 lbs.
• Possesses basic computer skills and ability to learn cloud based management software, MS Office Suite, Acculynx, and other miscellaneous software
• Knowledge of all safety protocols for roofing and general construction
• Has prior knowledge of Roofing, Siding, and Gutter manufacturers and suppliers
• Ability to use basic roofing related hand tools (utility knife, hammer, etc.)

Educational/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent preferred
• Ten (10) years roofing, construction or related management experience

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
