Position Available
Corrections Officer (full time)
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is seeking motivated individuals that are interested in a
career in law enforcement. Selected candidates will be given on the job, paid training and
experience in the corrections division working three to four (3-4) 12-hour shifts per week
with every other weekend (Fri-Sun) off.
Qualifications for corrections officer:
- Highschool diploma or equivalency (GED)
- No felony convictions
- Pass drug screen and background check
- Pass CVSA (lie detector) test
- Possess State of Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license
- Monitors the daily activities of inmates
- Distributes meals, medication, personal, and other items to inmates
- Patrols cell blocks in order to ensure to the security, health, and welfare of inmates
- Communicates with inmates during the booking process
- Search, fingerprint, obtain DNA, and photograph inmates during intake
- Prepare and maintain records related to inmate health, booking, and incidents
- Receives and responds to inquiries from government agencies, courts, and the general public
- Demonstrate regular and predictable timely attendance.
