Southwestern College is Hiring an Apartment Manager Near Winfield, KS

Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the Apartment Manager position at Southwestern College is a part-time, live-in position that carries responsibilities for administering a residence life program in student apartment housing.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Apartment Administration

  • Create and promote an atmosphere conducive to the academic pursuits and personal development of students.
  • Maintain a high degree of availability and visibility for all residents.
  • Maintain occupancy reports and room condition reports.
  • Ensure that maintenance problems are reported and corrected as soon as possible.
  • Promote a secure environment within the apartments.
  • Enforce Southwestern College policies and regulations.
  • Advise, discipline, and counsel students, making referrals when needed.
  • Act as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), reporting Clery Act crime allegations disclosed to them to designated officials.

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly resident director/apartment manager meeting
  • Attend monthly in-service
  • Apartment managers and resident directors share weekly on-call rotations, which occur about every 2-3 months for each staff member. On-call responsibilities include responding to phone calls, emergency situations, and weekend rounds in the residence halls.
  • Work includes nights and weekends. The individual in this position is required to reside on campus.

Required Qualifications & Special Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Leadership, supervision, and interpersonal skills relating to people in general, particularly young adults
  • Preference will be given to applicants with prior residence life and residence life leadership experience, and to those applicants who possess a working knowledge of student development.

Compensation Package
$7.89/hr at 6 hours a week for an approximate total of $47/wk or $2,000 for 10 months (July 20, 2024 – May 21, 2025), and a two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath apartment that includes a kitchen (refrigerator and electric range) internet, utilities, and access to the complimentary laundry facilities.
