Professional Healthcare Consultants is Hiring an Ophthalmic Technician Near Wilmington, NC

OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN

Overview:

Join our dynamic, growing one-provider Surgical and General Ophthalmology practice. We offer comprehensive medical eye care and surgery, including cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and minor in-office procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct patient intake, pre-screening, triage, and complete workup and testing (including refraction, OCT, fundus photography, ultrasonic and optical biometry, topography, and visual field testing).

- Perform scribing, coding, clinical supply inventory management, instrument sterilization, and scheduling follow-up appointments.

- Greet patients warmly, explain ophthalmic exams and testing procedures, answer patient questions, and provide patient education.

- Collaborate closely with providers and other team members to ensure efficient patient flow and deliver an exceptional patient experience.

Requirements:

- Minimum of two years of experience in a patient-facing role within a specialty medical practice.

- At least two years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Assistant is highly preferred.

- Proficiency in refraction is highly preferred.

- Certification (COA, COT) or willingness to achieve certification within one year of hire (training, continuing education, and test fee provided by the practice).

- Understanding of basic medical terminology, anatomy, and principles of optics and refraction.

- Commitment to continual learning and skill development.

- Excellent typing skills with a focus on accuracy, correct spelling, and grammar.

- Familiarity with medical diagnostic codes and experience in coding medical visits.

- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and practice management software.

- Exceptional patient service skills, a positive attitude, and a team-oriented approach.

- Empathetic personality with a demonstrated concern for patient needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
