Unit Mission Statement
Under the leadership of the Dean, the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences provides a voice for the Faculty of Arts & Sciences; strives to meet the needs of individual departments and programs; promotes excellence across Arts & Sciences as a whole; and represents the priorities of Arts & Sciences to the larger university community. In addition to the Dean of the Faculty, the Dean’s Office also has four vice deans and two assistant deans who are responsible for day-to-day management of the graduate and undergraduate programs and who serve as the primary administrative liaisons to assigned departments and programs.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Fiscal & Private Funds Manager, this position facilitates day to day fiscal and administrative transactions to include fiscal record keeping, data entry, reviewing/auditing financial transactions, and monitoring of expenditures to ensure adherence to budget allocation and spending guidelines. As an essential member of the Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office fiscal team, the Fiscal Technician will assist with special projects and ensure timely completion of fiscal year-end activities that have a significant impact on A&S operations.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Preparation and submission of timely and accurate fiscal transactions to include labor redistributions, journal vouchers, and Foundation check requests.
  • Assisting with preparation, submission and tracking of personnel payment transactions such as Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) and Electronic PAFs (EPAFs)
  • Preparation of faculty administrative appointment and Professorship correspondence
  • Assisting with tracking of faculty research support, start-up funds
  • Reviewing and verifying accounting entries
  • Maintaining various budget and expense tracking spreadsheets
  • Working with Private Fund Accounting to ensure compliance with individual private fund gift restrictions.
  • Providing backup fiscal support for department and program administrators across Arts & Sciences
Conditions of Employment
This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc., as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal administration and general accounting practices and procedures as well as tracking and projecting expenditures.
  • Familiarity with Qlik, Banner Finance, Workday, or other fiscal/ budgeting software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with productivity systems and applications in the areas of fiscal administration and reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including Internet browsers and Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply organizational policies, and procedures in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and interact professionally with faculty, staff and counterparts in other units across campus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Prior fiscal administration experience
  • Experience utilizing fiscal management systems and applications such as Banner, Qlik, Chrome River, buyW&M and WorkDay.
  • Experience balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Up to $46,000, commensurate with experience
