• Process accounts payable as needed, including; retrieving proper authorization for payments, and paying corporate visas.
• Daily review, fraud mitigation and approval of all mobile check deposit files each day.
• Process and reconcile Deposits in Transit, follow-up on check discrepancies in a timely manner, and process check adjustments through proper banking channels, as needed.
• Process incoming wire transfers daily, outgoing wire transfers periodically, and reconcile the Federal Reserve account daily.
• Record, track and maintain prepaid expenses on a monthly basis.
• Review payroll submitted reports for accuracy and general ledger recording.
• Review data, create journal entries, and provide financial reports to support the accounting month end close process.
• Provide support data and financial reports as needed per NCUA 5300 Call Report rules and regulations.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Metrics

• Review and process GL account exceptions and clearing of GL accounts to a zero balance on a daily basis.
• Process and reconcile daily official check settlement, stop payments, and requests for check copies and reconcile the corresponding GL account in accordance with established department standards.
• Maintain reconciliation of Credit Union bank accounts, process daily cash management activity and post proper GL entries in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prepare all reports within the prescribed time frame with zero errors.
• Provide helpful and informative service and support to all members and associates.
• Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to typical office conditions. Occasionally the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Demands

While performing the responsibilities of the Accounting Specialist, the employee is required to talk and hear; conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately and efficiently. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required in this job include close vision. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment under 50 lbs.

Education & Experience

• A high school education or equivalent.
• Knowledge of and experience with accounting or banking industry practices.
• Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Accounting utilizes professional skills that include; Organization/Timeliness, Accuracy.
