Job Description:
Qualifications:Required Experience/Skills: - Minimum of 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry in roles such as, but not limited to, clinical research, financial planning, procurement and/or supply chain management. - Significant experience in managing sponsor/supplier interactions in roles such as, but not limited to, business development, project management, contract management, or relationship management. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - able to proactively update stakeholders on progress of work, manage a high volume of projects/contracts at one time, prompt others for information in a constructive manner as needed, etc. - Must be adaptable in dealing with ambiguous and complex environments. - Able to effectively lead work within diverse cross functional teams to achieve client, department, and company goals.
Preferred Experience/Skills: - Superior analytical skills in evaluating complex research services budgets, comparing supplier bids and internal benchmarking data. - Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders and suppliers in the context of a challenging clinical trial environment. - Knowledge of the clinical trial process and outsourced clinical servicesResponsibilities:The selected candidate will provide expert procurement support for outsourced clinical research categories. This includes sourcing of service providers (including but not limited to Contract Research Organizations or CROs) utilizing the Sourcing Management Process for strategic analysis of suppliers, supply markets and supply chains. This role works closely with internal stakeholders in MRL's Clinical group, procurement, and finance organizations to achieve cross-functional business objectives. This role is responsible for helping stakeholders navigate the sourcing process, negotiating supplier budgets, contract negotiation & execution and ongoing contract management.
Primary Activities
1. Sourcing - to help stakeholders identify and define business requirements and potential suppliers. Support, and in some cases create and execute, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs together with structured information analysis. Help stakeholder teams analyze and score proposals and select supplier.
2. Budget Negotiation - to conduct negotiations with suppliers based on detailed analysis of study specifications, supplier costs, and internal benchmarks.
3. Contract Execution and Management - to prepare, finesse, and implement appropriate forms of contract and commitment with suppliers involving legal counsel and senior management as needed. Follow standard process for contract filing in SAP in a timely basis.
4. Stakeholder Support - to provide appropriate guidance around budgetary and contractual impacts of decisions/actions as part of a cross-functional team. Appropriately escalate issues and concerns to procurement management and other functional areas such as legal, privacy, compliance, etc.
5. Supplier Performance Management - to monitor, report, manage, and continuously improve supplier performance as part of a cross-functional team.
6. Supplier and Supply Market Analysis - to evaluate suppliers and supply markets based on facts, data, reports, and changes in technology with the objective of providing deep and meaningful insight to Sourcing Management teams.
7. Category Team Membership - to be an active member of a category team to influence the development and optimization of ongoing supplier and sourcing strategies.
