Job DescriptionAre you looking for a job where you'll have the opportunity to work directly with your peers to share your knowledge and help them succeed? The Bettis Radiological and Environmental Training (BR&ET) team at NNL is looking for an instructional designer to join our team!
The successful candidate will serve as an instructional designer for qualifications at the Bettis Laboratory that BR&ET is responsible for, such as waste qualifications, production radiological qualifications, and/or the Engineer of Radiological Work qualification. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
  • Developing and conducting initial and continuing training for assigned qualifications
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements and new qualifications
  • Development of training materials across a variety of formats (in-person, virtual, or self-paced computer-based training), including new methods for engaging adult learners in training
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with qualified workers to serve as a subject matter expert as well as to identify other training opportunities
  • Developing, administering, and grading examinations for assigned qualifications
  • Maintaining records for assigned qualifications
The BR&ET team is highly collaborative, so you will have many opportunities to work with the rest of the team to support each other's work. Career development opportunities such as training and conference attendance are also available and encouraged.
Required Combination Of Knowledge And SkillBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education, technical, engineering or science related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in an education, technical, engineering or science related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
Preferred SkillsPrevious experience as an instructor or teacher
Previous experience with hazardous, PCB, and residual waste regulations (e.g. RCRA, TSCA, PA State regulations) and/or qualification to Bettis, NNL, and/or NAVSEA 9210.47 waste qualifications.
Previous experience with radiological work per qualifications defined by LAB-RC-0288

Pay Range$76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
