SUMMARY:

The Adult Education staff report to the Director of Adult Education for the district and perform duties associated with the operation of the Adult Education program for the Copiah-Lincoln Community College district.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• None

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Participates in registration and student advisement sessions.
• 2. Provides pre-testing and post-testing as necessary.
• 3. Plans and conducts lessons appropriate to each student's learning level, and maintains current documentation.
• 4 . Uses instructional strategies, learning practices and tools based on individual student's needs.
• 5. Maintains student data and folders according to state and Co-Lin Adult Ed policy.
• 6. Adjusts instruction to maximize student learning.
• 7. Collaborates with colleagues to develop and evaluate learning experiences to further students' education. 
• 8. Collects LACES data and submits/inputs on time.
• 9. Participates in 30 hours of staff development through state-wide conferences, regional workshops, or local in-service training.
• 10. Assists in promoting the program to individuals in the community.
• 11. Stays abreast of technology through regular communication with the program office/Data Manager.
• 12. Assists the director with local staff development opportunities as assigned.

Adult Education Instructor

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Superior organizational and documentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and other agencies
• Experience working with diverse populations

PREFERED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Teacher certification
• Three (3) years of professional work experience in an educational field
• Strong customer service skills.
• Strong computer technology skills.
• Master's Degree

ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:

• The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
