Job Title: AV Technician I
Employment Status: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
Support the mission of Museum of the Bible and provide consistently excellent visitor experience by operating, troubleshooting and repairing audiovisual and interactive systems used in the museum’s exhibition galleries and event spaces.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operate audio, video, show control and lighting systems in exhibition galleries and event spaces 2. Troubleshoot problems with systems to quickly restore normal operation 3. Assist with the construction and installation of AV systems for in-house exhibits. 4. Assist visiting operators and technical staff utilizing museum facilities 5. Ensure team member, visitor and object safety in all activities 6. Other duties as assigned.
Education
1. Associate degree in technical major or equivalent experience
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of documented audiovisual experience
  • CTS and other AV certifications a plus
Skills
  • Working knowledge of audio mixing, DSP, recording, amplification and loudspeaker equipment
  • Working knowledge of lighting and show control systems (DMX)
  • Working knowledge of video playback, recording, switching and distributing equipment
  • Working knowledge of video monitor and projection equipment
  • Working knowledge of digital signage hardware and software
  • Proficient with Windows and OSX computers
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of IT networking hardware (switches, routers, wireless) and cabling (CAT6/6A, Fiber Optic)
  • Able to effectively troubleshoot problems in complex systems
  • Able to maintain and project calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Willing to work as a team, help other team members
  • Attention to details
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Work Environment
Physical demands/requirements are as follows:
Sit for up to 8 hours a day.
Squat bending at the knees.
Stand for long periods of time.
Lift up to 30 lbs. for short periods of time.
