Western Missouri Medical Center is Hiring a Pharmacy Specialist Near Warrensburg, MO

Description

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Pharmacy Specialist will assist the 340B coordinator and pharmacists in preparing, distributing, and dispensing medications, maintaining the medication inventory and patient records, contract compliance, audits, and other duties as assigned by the director. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Gather and process data to aid the buyer in maintaining contract compliance.
  • Aid in processing medication and supply orders.
  • 340B auditing of Covered Entity (CE) data along with policies and procedure reviews. 
  • Complete duties involving 340B contract pharmacy processing thru to delivery.
  • Process and maintain records involving processing indigent patients for prescription assistance.
  • Assist the lead technician in tasks associated with training, regulatory compliance, polices, and protocols.
  • Process prescriptions for patients through the onsite outpatient pharmacy. This includes but not limited to transcribing, filling, and dispensing.
  • Complete all essential functions of a pharmacy technician including delivery and stocking of medications, as well as sterile and non-sterile compounding.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other essential duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy required.
  • Associate’s and/or Bachelor’s degree highly preferred. Will consider applicant actively studying in a relevant field OR equivalent work experience.
  • CPhT required or can be obtained within first 6 months of employment.
  • 340B University completion preferred or obtained within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Pharmacy technician, pharmacy buyer, and 340B knowledge and experience highly preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is a must. 
  • Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, ability to prioritize and problem solve, ability to mathematically compute and convert drug concentrations and doses.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time, including driving personal vehicle.
