JLM HR Consulting is Hiring a Master Electrician Near Washington, DC

Master Electrician

The Master Electrician works closely with the Resident Lighting Designer and Production Manager to plan and execute the safest installation of lighting rep plots, original designs, remount designs, and rentals for any Duke Ellington School of the Arts (DESA) produced or supported performance or event.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and maintains a safe and healthy working environment for students and equipment.
  • Effectively plan and communicate ideas with collaborators.
  • Diagnose and complete basic repairs of lighting fixtures, cables, expendable equipment/tools, ETC paradigm systems, and genie lift/s throughout the academic year. Immediate mention of any faulty equipment should be forwarded to the TDP Chair and scheduled to be serviced by the appropriate companies.
  • Additionally perform duties as a Lighting Design Instructor: Leads, guides, and trains student electricians in applicable procedures and techniques (during the light hang, focus, and strike) that comply with IATSE and USITT standards.
  • Updates paperwork as it relates to the implementation, strike, or transfer of any lighting design.
  • Update documents/reports relating to rentals or repairs.
  • Update lighting paperwork (Light Wright, Vector Works, and Excel) throughout the entire production process for all three spaces.
  • High school diploma or GED; Electrician certification or 5-7 years’ experience
  • Knowledge and experience working with ETC lighting systems. Candidate must be able to troubleshoot networking issues, paradigm systems, and basic board functions.
  • Experience working with and tying into 100A and 200A service panels. Must have training/certification for operation.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to properly apply and use fall arrest systems when working at dangerous heights.
  • Ability to lead and train staff and/or students.
  • Ability to read lighting plots and apply NEC standards as a daily practice.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and always enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
