Land & Feast is Hiring a Business Operations Manager (Agriculture/Farm) Near Vista, CA

As an Operations Manager, you will be essential to assisting us with our goal of cultivating goodness by overseeing business operations for the farm such as strategic planning, marketing farm products, staff management, compliance, and sales initiatives.

This role’s key areas of focus are:

This role will:

  • Work closely with Ranch Manager to strategically plan and expand farm operations, engaging in market research, identifying growth opportunities, and formulating business strategies.
  • Supervise and manage all elements of business operations for the farm.
  • Develop and execute strategies to market and sell farm products, encompassing avocadoes, chicken eggs, duck eggs, and potentially other items, to new markets and clientele.
  • Work with other managers to craft and oversee budgets for operations, conduct financial analyses, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning for the farm, focusing on product diversification and revenue stream expansion.
  • Recruit and train farm personnel, including managers, laborers, animal caretakers, and administrative staff.
  • Ensure adherence to agricultural regulations, environmental standards, and food safety protocols.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for farm products, equipment, and supplies.
  • Supervise the maintenance and enhancement of farm infrastructure like buildings, fences, roads, and irrigation systems.
  • Collaborate with Ranch Manager to introduce sustainable farming practices, environmental conservation measures, and waste management strategies.
  • Identify and address risks associated with weather, pests, market fluctuations, and other factors impacting farm operations.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Amazon storefront, focusing on managing and maintaining inventory levels for dry goods such as office snacks, paper products, and canned beverages.
  • Involve the G&A team in executing operational responsibilities, such as recruiting, marketing, accounting, and education.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to build strong client relationships.
  • Drive sales initiatives and contribute to revenue generation efforts.
  • Implement and manage tools and technology resources to optimize operational efficiencies.
  • Handle administrative tasks to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • Fulfill other assigned duties as required.

This role might be a good fit for you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, Business Management, or related field or comparable work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in farm management, business development, and strategic planning within the farming industry.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, livestock care, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business strategies for farm operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, financial analysis, and business planning.
  • Familiarity with sustainable farming practices, environmental conservation, and food safety standards.
  • The ability to make frequent trips to the farm in Valley Center, CA.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple responsibilities effectively.
