Wilbarger General Hospital, Vernon, TX has a PRN opportunity for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Job Summary: Responsible for administering occupational modalities of treatment as supervised by the staff Occupational Therapist. Administers treatments and physical agents as directed y the staff Occupational Therapist, after Occupational Therapist has evaluated the patient. the COTA assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. the COTA participates in CQI activities. Participates in all infection control, departmental equipment training, organizational safety and fire safety programs.

Job Qualifications:

A. Education: AA Degree from a school or college approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Knowledge of physical medicine, therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology. Knowledge of therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.

C. Licensure, Registry, or Certification: Occupational Therapy Assistant currently licensed by the State of Texas.

D. Experience:

1. Prior work experience: One year experience in all aspects of Occupational Therapy preferred.

2. Technical Training: Current BLS required. CPI required.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the Position require extended periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting when moving or supporting patients who may become weak or helpless.
