Emmanuel Lutheran Church is Hiring a Financial Administrator Near Venice, FL
Under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and Congregational Treasurer, the Finance Administrator will be responsible for the following duties:
- Perform all bookkeeping functions.
- Being responsible for payment of all bills, invoices, and charges.
- Review and process reimbursements.
- Assist the Treasurer in the preparation of the annual budget for the congregation council.
- Prepare the monthly (or quarterly) financial reports for the Treasurer for the church council meetings
- Monitor and report the cash position of the congregation and investing available funds as directed.
- Keep records of invoices and tax payments. Assist the Treasurer with filing all required federal and state tax forms.
- Provide the Treasurer with any requested financial information.
- Monitor the congregation’s liabilities (e.g. insurance premium) under the supervision of the Treasurer.
- Identify and address account discrepancies with the Treasurer.
- Execute payroll processes for all staff including timekeeping records.
- Maintain confidentiality of records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Recommended Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics and/or 3 years of proven work experience in finance/accounting is preferred.
- Experience using church database software is preferred.
- Working knowledge of MS Excel (creating spreadsheets and charts and using financial Excel functions).
- Good understanding of bookkeeping procedures and fund accounting.
- Time-management and organization skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team member with church staff.
This is a full-time position with benefits. Salary negotiable based on qualifications and work experience.
