Summary Description

Handle all duties relative to merchandise (General Merchandise and Parts & Accessories) receipt and shipment. Ship and receive departmental and/or dealership inventory. Assist in the maintenance of inventory accuracy and control inventory related records. Perform related duties as necessary.

Assist Controller and Department Managers in all Inventory Control related operations.

Operations could include but are not limited to: assisting in maintaining inventory accuracy in Parts & Accessories and MotorClothes™, participating in daily inventory analysis to solve inventory problems and performing physical and electronic cycle counting and annual inventories. Supporting Inventory Manager reviewing the levels of slow-moving, non-moving, and excessive inventory and subsequent effects on departmental profitability in dealership.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1) Inventory Profitability

• Help ensure adequate inventory of materials and products in accord with inventory cycles and organizational philosophy.

• Support Inventory Manager in balancing inventory carrying costs against the demand of Parts & Accessories, Service, MotorClothes™ and Sales.

• Assist departmental managers with purchasing needs and inventory expectations in Parts & Accessories, Service, MotorClothes™ and Sales.

• As assigned, review monthly sales, inventory valuation, non-mover, and slow-mover reports to assist in the projection of future inventory needs.

• Help Inventory Control Manager maintain sufficient quantities of stock to support demands and sustain acceptable inventory turn ratios.

• Support departmental managers in plans of removing non-moving and slow-moving merchandise in all areas of dealership.

2) Inventory Accuracy

• Help Inventory Control Manager solve inventory problems.

• Implement and carry out inventory control procedures for all necessary departments.

• Carry out daily/weekly physical cycle counts.

• Work with dealership to conduct annual physical count.

• Demonstrate an ability to maintain accurate and current inventory records.

• As assigned, assist in updating and validating all electronic and physical inventory control systems available in the dealership.

• Work with Inventory Control Manager to track accuracy levels for all departments.

3) eCommerce Store

• Monitoring, managing, and updating content such as product listings, inventory updates, etc.

• Processing orders for shipment in a timely manner, based on the timeline in the shipping policy.

• Entering all orders in Talon accurately and timely.

• Ensuring all product details are mentioned correctly.

• Assisting the Marketing department in developing promotional campaigns.

• Inspecting consumer product reviews.

• Identifying and resolving customer queries and project roadblocks.

4) Shipping and Receiving

• Receive incoming merchandise and update information into Talon, accurately and timely.

• Ensure packing list has parts and quantities listed accurately. Report and discrepancies immediately.

• Prepare, pack and ship items that need to be returned to appropriate vendor or customer.

• Utilize shipping vendors that offer the best value and customer service in order to keep costs as low as possible.

• Regular and dependable attendance.

• Maintain a neat, clean and uncluttered work area.

• Treat all employees and customers fairly, courteously, and with dignity.

• Model superior customer service behavior for all personnel by maintaining positive relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, GM and owner(s).

• Maintain Harley-Davidson qualifications by reviewing both new and supplemental training programs as they arrive and mastering the skills and information contained within the programs. (i.e. General Merchandise and P&A training and new product updates)

• Be prompt and available for flexible scheduling.

• Be honest and fair in all business dealings.

Qualifications & Job Requirements

• 3 years progressive experience with retail sales and inventory management.

• Knowledge and experience with Harley-Davidson Motorcycles, Parts & Accessories and General Merchandise is a plus.

• Demonstrate the ability to quickly understand and learn new Harley-Davidson products.

• Experience with computers necessary. Ability to learn new software and systems must be demonstrated.

• Attend Training HDU.

Physical Demands

• The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

• Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and lift 75 lb. of material.

Working Conditions

• Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning materials or other toxic materials commonly found in a motor vehicle service department.

• Occasionally, exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles.
