JOB
The primary goal of the Arts Center’s General Staff is to support the Arts Center programming, ensuring that team operations and administration run smoothly and efficiently. This is a part-time, hourly position scheduled Monday–Saturday for up to 19 hours per week, particularly to be present during public hours. This position reports to the Program Coordinator.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Greet and assist visitors with a high level of customer service, providing a welcoming and friendly environment for the patrons to enjoy their experience.Provide information to visitors about current Arts Center exhibitions, programs, events, and the arts community in Fuquay-Varina.Ensure all marketing materials are available for Arts Center visitors at the front desk.Update the front desk information binders with the most up-to-date staff contact information, opening and closing instructions for galleries, and resources.Be knowledgeable about the Arts Center’s Friends membership benefits and how to join.Assist with visitor evaluation, visitor tracking, and attendance studies.Monitor activities within assigned post to prevent theft, vandalism, damage to works of art, or injury to visitors or staff.Ensure the public facilities are clean and presentable.Open and close building according to listed procedures.Administrative work includes, but is not limited to, assistance with mailings, filing, organizing, processing payments, copying, etc.Special administrative and accounting projects as assigned.Must be able to occasionally lift or move moderately heavy objects, such as tables, chairs or supplies.Assist Arts Center Instructors in class preparations and clean up.Specific duties may vary depending upon assignment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.Education/Experience: 1–2 years of relevant experience working with the public in a customer service or hospitality environment preferred.Minimum of a High School degree or a student in pursuit of a degree in art, art history, arts administration, or similar field of study.
