Responsibilities & Duties

A Behavior Technician (BT) makes a difference in the lives of the clients that Anchor Behavioral Solutions serves by providing high-quality services to adults with a variety of developmental disabilities, who are in need of assistance in reducing challenging behaviors. Under the direct supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and support from a Behavior Analyst (BA), the Behavior Technician will provide behavioral services that will assist clients to work towards achieving a high level of physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Behavior Technicians are responsible for implementing Behavior Support Plans and strategies developed by the Behavior Analyst (BA), under the supervision of the Board-Certified Board Analyst (BCBA). These services are provided to adults within home, day program, and/or other community settings. The following job description outlines essential job functions, but may not provide a comprehensive list of duties that may be assigned:

  • Work collaboratively with assigned BA and BCBA in order to implement basic principles of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis).
  • Provide quality instruction to caregivers and staff of adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, physical aggression, and/or other related developmental disabilities.
  • Serve as a model when training and implementing the individual’s Behavior Support Plan (BSP) or strategies written by BA.
  • Train families and/or staff in the implementation of Behavior Supports Plans and recommended strategies.
  • Monitor the client’s, family’s and/or staff’s implementation of BSP and strategies.
  • Track and record data reported by families, staff, and/or during session observations into ReThink.
  • Create appropriate materials that support the BSP.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled visits to client’s home, day program, and/or other community setting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of behavior analysis strategies in all interactions with clients/families.
  • Demonstrate empathy and compassion in conduct towards clients.
  • Demonstrate respect, cooperation, consideration, and tact in dealing with subordinates, peers, supervisors, families and others.
  • Cooperate with the applicable State Department or Division licensing unit with all reasonable and legally mandated inspections or investigations.
  • Ideal candidates have at least 1 to 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities in an applicable, educational group setting, based on DDD and DOE programs
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Social Work, Public Health or related field strongly preferred.
  • Registered Behavioral Technician preferred
  • Experience with physically aggressive and/or self-injurious clients preferred
  • Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
  • Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks
  • Possess and maintain a valid New Jersey driver’s license (or Resident State)
  • Must have basic technology skills & maintain access to a mobile device or PC to complete job requirements

Position Type: Fee for Service. Part-Time or Full-Time

Preferred Availability: Between the hours of 10a-7p during the week, and weekends (if needed).
