Job Description and Duties
The Department of Developmental Services is recruiting to fill an Investigatorposition within the Office of Protective Services (OPS) at Porterville Developmental Center (PDC).

Special Requirements
- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
- The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
- The position(s) require(s) Psychological Evaluation clearance prior to being hired.
Completion of the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Basic Academy or Specialized Investigators Basic Course is required (Please attach certificate to application). A current California driver’s license is required. This is a sworn Peace Officer position pursuant to California Penal Code section 830.3(v). The successful candidate will undergo a complete background investigation, in accordance with the Commission on POST requirements. All appointments are subject to pre-employment physical and fingerprint clearance.

Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of investigation techniques and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and rules.
- Skill in planning, organizing, and directing investigations
- Ability to analyze, think, and act quickly in emergencies and adopt an effective course of action.
- Knowledge of various types of developmental disabilities and knowledge of specific commitments that allow admission to the Developmental Centers/Community Facility.
