Custodian/Maintenance

The Humane Society of Summit County is currently accepting applications for a part-time or full-time Custodian/Maintenance team member.

Job Overview:

We are currently seeking a diligent and reliable Custodian/Maintenance worker to join our team. As a Custodian at the Humane Society of Summit County, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary environment throughout our facilities. Your efforts will contribute directly to the well-being of our animals and the overall positive experience of our staff, volunteers, and visitors. This job is physically demanding and does not have direct animal contact.

Responsibilities:

• Perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness of all areas within the Humane Society facilities, including public spaces, restrooms, and animal care areas.
• Offering assistance in facility management by ensuring adherence to fire codes, OSHA guidelines, and building maintenance standards.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect floors, walls, and surfaces as needed.
• Clean and sanitize animal kennels, cages, and holding areas to maintain a healthy and safe environment for the animals.
• Clean and sanitize all areas throughout the shelter.
• Power wash crates and under kennel areas.
• Empty and dispose of trash and recycling properly.
• Daily clean-up of the animal yard.
• Ensure that cleaning equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stored.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate staff member.
• Collaborate with other team members to support the smooth operation of the Humane Society.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years old or older to apply.
• Prior experience in janitorial or custodial work is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission of the Humane Society of Summit County.
• Excellent communication skills and a friendly, cooperative attitude.
