The Sales Manager sells hotel guestrooms, catering services, and banquet facilities through direct client contact to maximize total rooms revenues and profits. This position maintains positive relationships with the clients and guests of the hotel. The Sales Manager will also be required to assist other departments as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Establishes client base of corporate business, local organizations, associations, social, and event planners through direct outside and inside sales effort for the purpose of securing business for the hotel to ensure that predetermined sales activity and revenue goals are met or exceeded.
  •  Has practiced current selling techniques and processes successfully.
  • Negotiates guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Confirms in writing to the client all requirements via approved sales contract.
  • Conducts tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertains qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures.
  • Accurately forecasts all bookings and cancellations.
  • Assists the Director of Sales with the implementation and achievement of the Sales Marketing plan.
  • Exhibits creativity in sales strategy and tactics.
  • Meets weekly reporting requirements of progress and results.
  • Attends and represents company at trade shows or networking events as needed.
  • Responds quickly to client and guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Maintains a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
  • Follows company policies and procedures and is able to effectively communicate them to team members.
  • Problem solving and identifying solutions for the business client or guest while using business acumen
  • Gathering competitive intelligence

Education, Experience, Other Requirements 

Required

  • · Ability to work with little or no supervision while meeting high-performance standards
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organization skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

  • Work experience in Sales in the Hospitality Field
  • AA or Bachelors Degree
  • Experience with hotel operation systems
  • Previous experience with sales CRM
  • Familiarity with corporate account/B2B/event sales

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This position regularly requires long hours and having availability days, nights and weekends plus being on call as needed. Demand and room occupancy may dictate final scheduled hours. Some travel is necessary in order to meet potential clients and to attend events as deemed necessary by the Director of Sales.
