X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant ? JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Manager, this position assists physician/provider with all general medicine or specialized medical practice duties.
Licensed X-Ray Tech to Work with C- Arm Fluoroscopy Interventional Radiology Tech, the fluoroscopy technician assists the physician with interventional pain management procedures, scheduling, prep instructions, supply management, and patient recovery. Working knowledge of interventional equipment (including C-Arm and Radiology/X-ray equipment), procedures and materials/supplies needed for each procedure. Knowledge of sterile techniques.

Essential Functions
? Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and recording chief complaint; documents pain scores as appropriate. Reports condition of patient which may be indicative of change in the patient's condition to the clinician.
? Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures which could include taking patients blood pressure, documenting respiration and heart rate/pulse, vitals, as well as performing assigned duties indicated by your supervisor or provider. Acts as chaperon as needed. Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions at all times and personal protective equipment as needed. Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical process.
? Experience with special procedures utilizing a C-Arm.
? Knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective devices to be utilized when operating radiology systems.
? 1-2 years experience in C-Arm and Portable x-rays in operating room setting.
? Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation to include but not limited to complete medical records including labs, authorizations, X-Rays, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
? Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances.
? Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.
? Experience with monitoring and maintaining inventory.
? Proficient in the use of computers and related software and EHR system.
? Operate all diagnostic radiology equipment. Perform all diagnostic radiology procedures associated with each type of equipment.
? Ability to analyze body habitus to correctly adjust technical factors, position the body correctly, review physicians written orders or obtain pertinent clinical data to consistently produce high-quality images and reduce unnecessary radiation to patients and oneself.
? Assists the radiologist during (injection, biopsy, drainage) procedures and if necessary (contrast reactions) by preparing the room, tray, and supplies and by anticipating the needs of the physicians, nursing staff and patients.
? Assists the radiologist during fluoroscopy and/or injection procedures (i.e. room and supply preparation, contrast reaction, code blue, patient safety, etc.)
? Performs other related duties as requested by the Physician or Medical Director
