Position: Coordinator of Religious Education
Reports to: Pastor
Part-time
FLSA: Hourly non-exempt
The Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) for Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and School administers (designs, directs, evaluates) a total parish catechetical program for children and youth and provides leadership to assist a parish community in building a solid foundation for spirituality, Christian living, ministry, and evangelization.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages, designs, and develops goals, objectives, and strategies, to direct the Parish Religious Education Program for grades K-HS working with a Parish Board of Religious Education.
- Maintains a close working relationship with the Pastor, other Staff and volunteers, and the Parish Board of Religious Education.
- Establishes operating procedures for management of Program, orders textbooks, schedules classes and makes room assignments.
- Monitors a budget for the operation of the total Religious Education Program.
- Keeps accurate records for the Parish Religious Education Program using the Parish Soft Data Program.
- Communicates on a regular basis with participants, parents, and the entire parish regarding religious education efforts and developments.
- Evaluates the Religious Education Programs in relation to goals, objectives, and strategies and makes necessary adjustments based on parish feedback and professional development, investigates changes needed to better serve the faithful.
- Recruits and supervises catechists, maintains student and catechist records, and assists catechists in their efforts toward certification.
- Coordinates all sacramental preparation, including education and liturgical preparation.
- Coordinates with the adult faith formation leader to enhance current offerings.
- Coordinate the junior youth group program.
- Oversees the preparation and ongoing implementation of OCIA for children.

- Fully initiated practicing Catholic.
- Capabilities in Theology, Program Development, Catechist Development, Education, Communication and Relationships, and Administration and Management.

- Maintains Diocesan Catechetical Certification.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
