Essential Job Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

• Managing and supervising accounting operations to enhance the accuracy of timely reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with U.S. GAAP
• Overseeing, maintaining, and enforcing a documented system of accounting policies and procedures (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Project Accounting, and Inventory)
• Managing daily invoicing, payments and collections and periodic bank account reconciliation and debt payments
• Preparing accurate and timely comprehensive periodic financial reporting including accounts payable and accounts receivable reconciliations, income statements, cash flow, balance sheet, and supplementary financial reports.
• Assessing company’s compliance with SOX testing and reporting for all business purposes including IT functions and entity level controls
• Supporting ad hoc financial analyses and reporting as requested
• Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
• Improving existing accounting and workflow procedures

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The Controller should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; five plus years of general ledger and financial reporting experience; a positive attitude and a “team player” approach to management of staff; a commitment to a regular and dependable work schedule; effective communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to work independently; excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; demonstrated experience in financial analysis; thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and internal control systems; and advanced ability with Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Experience within the construction industry using percentage of completion method is preferred. Advanced knowledge of Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate (Timberline) is a definite plus.
