QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or the equivalent of five years of governmental accounting experience.
  • Demonstrates exceptional organizational and business/office skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Strong computer and database skills including proficiency at Excel.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks daily.


SUMMARY
:

The Assistant Business Manager is responsible for providing services essential to the preparation, administration, supervision, and control of all financial accounting under the supervision of the Director of Finance. Successful performance of this position requires the ability to plan and implement assigned tasks with minimal supervision in a timely manner according to internal procedures and adherence to governmental accounting regulations (GASB 34 and GAAP). The person in this position must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and to communicate with a variety of people effectively both in written and oral form. Successful performance also requires the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and solve complex accounting problems. This person must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and communicate with other staff members.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Director of Finance in all areas of the day-to-day financial operations of the central office, school districts, and any special projects.
  • Assists the Director of Finances with obtaining annual budget requirements for all districts and programs and with the preparation of the annual budgets by providing reports for year-to-year comparisons.
  • Review and reconcile the balance sheet for all entities at regular intervals.
  • Oversees internal controls and adherence to internal procedures and GASB 34.
  • Assists the Director of Finance with financial management reports.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with grant tracking, reconciliations, and reimbursements.
  • Point of contact for the audit preparation
  • Oversees monthly bank reconciliations and other monthly financial reconciliations and bill backs to school districts.
  • Coordinates purchasing for special revenue funds as assigned by the DOF.
  • Prepares accounts payables for certain school districts.
  • Prepares accounts receivables for school districts.
  • Assists the Director of Finance in ensuring maximum efficiency and effective workflow of the central office.
  • Other duties are assigned as needed.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment. EVALUATION;

Performance evaluated annually by the Director of Finance and Superintendent in accordance with responsibilities outlined above, initiative, leadership characteristics, skill in dealing with the unanticipated and success in meeting predetermined objectives.
