JOB DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Facilities Director responsible for oversight and management of the Facility and EVS Departments, including oversight and planning for the timely installation, maintenance and repair of machines, equipment and utility systems as well as cleanliness of entire Casino. This position is open exclusively to enrolled Yakama Tribal Members and is specifically geared toward career development. A mutually agreed upon contract between employer and employee, outlining specific educational, technical and personal development target areas will be required.

SPECIFIC DUTIES PERFORMED: This list of tasks is illustrative ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. It does not imply that all positions within the class perform all of the duties listed, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned.

  • Ensure and maintain compliance with all ordinances, laws and other communicated expectations including but not limited to: NIGC Regulations, Yakama Gaming Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Tribal Internal Controls and other communications from regulatory personnel.
  • Develop an understanding of current and future maintenance requirements by establishing rapport with management, engineering, operating personnel, tradesmen, contractors, technicians, and other persons in a position to understand maintenance.
  • Assists with the development and administration of short and long-range plans for the maintenance, remodeling and modernization of the facility.
  • Assist with planning and communicating energy conservation programs.
  • Assists with developing financial objectives by an annual maintenance budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action.
  • Assists with directing and supervising the purchasing of all facility and EVS related supplies, equipment and services.
  • Ensure that all vendors are licensed in compliance with licensing requirements of TGA.
  • Work with Facilities Director to inform the General Manager and Department Directors on a regular basis regarding specific and overall conditions of the facility, related systems and equipment providing effective recommendations for improvements when needed.
  • Work with Facilities Director to ensure efficient operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repairs, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools and equipment.
  • Develop the ability to provide heat, electric power, gas and air by directing installation of, modifications to, and maintenance activities on all systems.
  • Responsible for effective cost controls for facility operation while ensuring appropriate levels of trained personnel are available to maintain a clean, functional environment that meets or exceeds guest experience expectations.
  • Learn to design, implement, and modify preventive maintenance programs by reviewing production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics; inspecting operating machines, equipment, and systems for conformance with operational standards.
  • Assists with maintenance operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Will assist with instituting a program of ongoing training and development of staff.
  • Helps identify and develop personnel to become future supervisors and managers of the department.
  • Promotes cross functional operational effectiveness which embraces joint accountability.
  • Makes decisions based upon overall company strategy while evaluating the impact to the entire organization so that decisions are made in the best interest of the company as a whole.
  • Create a culture of teamwork, communication, and positive attitudes while reinforcing a guest centric environment.
  • Models for the team, a strong work ethic and is visible, available and present for the guest and their team.
  • Develop the ability to make or approve all talent acquisitions, firing and other job actions, counsel and train team members. Corrective action for team member performance should be timely and sufficient to motivate positive performance changes and support the team member’s ongoing success.
  • Assists with ensuring optimal staffing levels are maintained throughout facilities and EVS operations by implementing and maintaining effective cost controls and labor productivity management systems.
  • Assists with developing and implementing policies and procedures to eliminate problems, increase efficiency, maintain adequate internal controls and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Complies with local, state and federal codes and standards by directing and monitoring the work of vendors, contractors, and staff.
  • Develops an understanding for compliance with ADA and OSHA requirements and company safety program.
  • Responsible to attend all company safety meetings and take an active role in participating.
  • Works with Facilities Director to ensure successful building operation through efficient, effective contract management.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED: None.

LICENSE REQUIRED: Must obtain and hold a Class III gaming license while employed and complete an annual background check with TGA.

MINUMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR POSITION: College degree in facilities management, engineering or other industry related field preferred. Extensive relevant job experience may be substituted for some education.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to stand for longer than 8 hours. Ability to lift seventy- five pounds (75lbs.).

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION: Minimum two to three years management experience. Ability to effectively address a variety of personnel-related matters and problem solve to address operational challenges. Demonstrates a global mindset by showing and respecting cultural differences and diversity, encouraging collaboration and pushing boundaries to drive change and encourage innovation in support of a company strategy. An understanding of all aspects of facility management including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, waste water treatment and carpentry. Must have a basic understanding of Auto CAD. Proven administrative abilities required.
