Journeyman Distillery is Hiring a Bar Prep Near Three Oaks, MI

Description

Basic Function: Ensure Staymaker and Events Bars are fully prepped for daily business and all special events.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Assisting with bar inventory every Monday morning.
  • Setting up bar wells every morning.
  • Receiving and checking in supply orders on Mondays and Thursdays, properly stocking and rotating.
  • Juicing citrus for service twice per week.
  • Making syrups and specialty spirits for use in cocktails.
  • Building kegged and barrel-aged cocktails.
  • Assisting with overall product management for Staymaker restaurant - reducing waste, improving product freshness, and maintaining consistency.
  • Ensure cleanliness of bar prior to open of business.
  • Ensure there is enough clean glassware and wash glassware regularly.
  • Monitor chemicals for glassware.
  • Ensure coolers are clean and organized.
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies.
  • Ensure there is always enough backup liquor behind the bar.
  • Comply with all food and beverage regulations.
  • Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or as directed by supervisor.
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed.
  • Responsible for ensuring work area(s) are stocked with items that will be needed while on shift.
  • Assist with special events as requested.
  • Handle any problems that might arise both courteously and professionally.
  • Consistently adhere to grooming and appearance standards set by the company.

Requirements

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND VISUAL SKILLS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Must speak English fluently, and be able to write in basic English. 
  • Good organizational skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use logical or rational thinking to solve problems.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions independently.
  • Ability to operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including calculations involving fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to stand for 6-8 hours 
  • Ability to perform moderate physical work; may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds of food trays carrying over their head constantly and performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping for up to five hours without sitting.

EDUCATIONAL, DEVELOPMENT AND WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service preparation and operational procedures as would normally be acquired through a high school education and at least one year of relevant experience preferred. 
  • Thorough knowledge of state liquor laws as applied to food and beverage service operational practices and procedures as would be acquired through and at least one year of relevant experience preferred in progressively responsible position.

REQUIRED WORK HABITS:

  • Work habits include regular attendance, team work, initiative, dependability, positive attitude and promptness.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Works primarily indoors in a bar and restaurant environment.
  • Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement hazards, sharp utensils, extremely hot stoves, grills and food and dangerous chemicals/solvents if proper safety procedures are not followed.
