INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR

JOB DESCRIPTION


QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in programming, computer science, or related field preferred.

  • Five years of related experience working in an IT environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience providing IT solutions in a school environment preferred.


REPORTS TO:
Executive Director


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES *

  • Facilitates school participation in technology programs and activities.
  • Collaborates with the school media coordinator to provide leadership in the school’s use of instructional technology resources to enhance learning.
  • Implements best practices related to technology use in the school program based on research, pilot programs, and state/national standards.
  • Works with the principals and school leadership teams to provide access to technology resources that are compatible with the school technology infrastructure.
  • Assists with the planning the design of the technology infrastructure so that information resources are continually available to the school community.
  • Adheres to and communicates copyright as well as other laws and guidelines pertaining to the distribution and ethical use of all resources.
  • Maintains hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
  • Serves as the school contact for addressing hardware and software issues.
  • Leads, in collaboration with the media coordinator and Board’s technology advisory committee, in effective decision making to promote the media and technology program.
  • Collaborates with teachers, media staff, and students to evaluate and select resources addressing curricular needs and learning goals.
  • Plays a leading role in the school’s budgetary process to ensure funding for the instructional technology program and infrastructure to support school-wide goals.
  • Leads in the ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of the instructional technology program.
  • Prepares and submits accurate reports as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Twelve months employment/Contract/FLSA Exempt

EVALUATION: The performance of the Information Technology Director will be evaluated by the Executive Director.
