I. Summary of the Main Function/Purpose of the Position:
Bar backs are responsible for supporting bartenders by ensuring the bar is well-stocked, clean, and organized. Duties include refilling supplies, cleaning bar areas, and assisting with basic drink preparation. Bar backs must provide friendly and attentive service, adhering to company standards.
II. Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure the bar is stocked with necessary supplies, including ice, glassware, garnishes, and beverages.
- Assist bartenders by refilling and restocking items as needed during shifts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including washing glassware and cleaning spills.
- Communicate with bartenders to ensure smooth operation and timely delivery of drinks.
- Assist with basic drink preparation and garnishing as directed by bartenders.
- Check in with bartenders regularly to ensure they have everything they need and address any issues.
- Have knowledge of bar equipment and supplies to assist with guest inquiries.
- Prioritize the needs of bartenders and guests to ensure a high level of customer service during all shifts.
III. Occasional Duties or Projects:
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor or ownership.
IV. Accountability:
- Records: Assist in keeping track of supply usage and inventory levels.
- Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe bar environment.
- Customer Service: Maintain excellent rapport with bartenders and customers.

- External: None.
- Internal: Supervisors (Bar Manager), Bartenders.
VII. Educational and/or Experience Requirements:
- Ability to read, write, and enter information into a POS system.
- Basic understanding of bar operations and drink preparation.
VIII. Certification or Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Florida Driver’s License or dependable transportation when public transportation is not available.
- Valid Safe Staff Food Handler certificate.
IX. Specialized Equipment or Machines Used:
- POS system
- Bar tools (e.g., shakers, strainers, jiggers)
- Ice machines
- Glass washers
X. Physical Demands:
- Regularly use hands and communicate effectively.
- Constantly stand and walk for up to 8-hour stretches.
