Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an experienced Academic Support Specialist to join our Academic Support Department for the 2024-2025 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for a skillful and creative special education professional to become part of an experienced three-person team dedicated to exceptional support for students requiring assistance with learning strategies, organization, and study skills.

Reporting to the Heads of Lower, Middle and Upper Schools, the Academic Support Specialist is a full-time, academic-year staff position with excellent benefits including medical, dental, and life insurance, as well as an employer-matching retirement savings plan. Primary Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Jamesville Dewitt School District to maintain MPH student IEPs and act as a liaison to home public school districts for MPH students with 504 Plans.
• Work collaboratively with Division Heads on the intake process for enrolled students requesting Academic Support services as well as new evaluating students applying through MPH Admissions.
• Meet with individual parents as necessary to discuss the progress of their children. Counsel families on assessments, evaluations, learning supports, tutoring, modifications, and accommodations. Assist with making requests for testing accommodations through College Board and ACT.
• Review student evaluations to develop MPH Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for students in Academic Support.
• Facilitate the scheduling of academic support services and maintaining student records.
• Facilitate ongoing guidance and support (resources, assistance, advice, and training) for faculty related to learning needs and executive functioning skills of students.
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support/instruction for students, both in push-in and pull-out environments.
• Facilitate discussions about the MPH Academic Support program development and evolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of two years working with students, preferably at the K12 level; Independent school experience highly desirable
• Teaching experience with mathematics is highly desirable
• Familiarity with IEP Direct is highly desirable
