Peer Community Support Specialist 

Reports to: Senior Program Manager MHCBS

Location: Baslie Rowe

Full time: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, 

$17.25/hour

Our focus is supporting individuals by ways of residential housing, mental health and clinical services, and immersing our participants in community engagement. Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings. 

About the Role 

We are looking for a proactive employee to provide the necessary supports to eligible persons that promote success at the highest level of independence possible. 

Responsibilities include:

• Recognizes the role of peers in the recovery process and appropriately shares own experiences living with a mental health diagnosis to encourage others in their recovery
• Actively engage peers in identifying barriers to recovery goals and developing strategies to overcome those barriers
• Provides supports and services as requested by individuals and documented in their recovery/service plans.

Education & Experience

High school diploma/GED required. Personal experience receiving mental health support required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. 

Conditions of Employment

Must possess a valid driver’s license and transportation necessary to meet program needs. Academy of Peer Services Certification must be completed within 1 year from date of hire.
