Position: Program Assistant

Overview:
The Program Assistant is a full-time or part-time employee who assists the Program Director in overseeing the program at Doors to Freedom. The Program Assistant works closely with the Program Director, as appropriate, to ensure the understanding of, dedication to, and implementation of the mission, vision, core values, and policy and procedures of Doors to Freedom. The Program Assistant is supervised by the Program Director.

Responsibilities:
Development of Residents:

  • Assists the Program Director in the completion of Strengths and Struggles Assessment/Safety Plan - [PRG14] with the resident within their first 24 hours at Doors to Freedom and prior to each Individualized Growth Plan Evaluation.
  • Assists the Program Director in the completion and adherence to the Individualized Growth Plan - [PRG07] and Individualized Growth Plan Evaluation - [PRG07-1] of each resident and coordinates and facilitates the IGP presentations.
  • Assists the Program Director in communication with families and residents, as delegated by the Program Director, to ensure continued growth for the family in the areas of relatedness, competency, and autonomy.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Program Director with overseeing the program of Doors to Freedom.
  • Assist the Program Director with the Referral and Intake, including the on-site and off-site preparation required and communication to the family, when approved and appropriate.
  • Assists Program Director in the intake process, file auditing, discharge process, and program data collection.
  • Advocacy and Case Management for the residents and family, as delegated by the Program Director.
  • Assists the Program Director with the completion of Weekly Check-Ins and sending them to appropriate providers.
  • Assists the Program Director with the following and completion of [FE04] - Family Engagement Checklist, after contact with the family is approved.
  • Engages with residents throughout the day.
  • Provides support to ensure residents’ rights, safety, and permanency needs are being met.
  • Assists the Program Director in the staffing process and leads the staffing in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Assists the Program Director in the coordination and follow-through of well-being needs for residents through required specialty appointments (as needed), therapy, Diagnostic Assessments, and Evaluations, etc.
  • Assists the Program Director in overseeing therapeutic activities (i.e. animal therapy, equine therapy, music therapy, and the DBT skills group, etc.).
  • Assists the Program Director with supervision of family visits and phone calls, as needed.
  • Updates the RES07 - Operational Residential Calendar to ensure phone calls, Family Check-Ins, and Family Visits are on the calendar and the times are accurate.
  • Ensures correspondence to external stakeholders is professional and accurate.
  • Transports residents to and from appointments as needed (mileage reimbursement will apply).
  • Maintains sensitivity to residents’ socioeconomic and cultural background..
  • Participates in Doors to Freedom’s Inclement Weather and Disaster Plan and follows assignments provided by the Executive Director or Operations Director.
  • Fulfills duties listed within the Human Service Provider/Care Coordinator Program Description.
  • Fulfills the role of the On-Call Staff as scheduled.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Experience:

  • Strongly Preferred: Masters in Social Work or other related areas of study and one year of experience in the management or supervision of child care personnel, a child care program, and/or a closely related field.
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field and two years experience in management or supervision of child care personnel, a child care program, or a related field required; or Associates degree in above fields and four years experience in management or supervision of child care personnel, a child care program or a related field.

Training:

  • Thorough understanding of, dedication to, and implementation of the mission and core values of Doors to Freedom.
  • Must complete Doors to Freedom’s onboarding process.
  • Must complete 15 approved continuing education hours annually.
  • Must maintain VSP-HT certification requirements annually.
  • Must maintain certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.
  • Must maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  • Must complete the following annually: Principles of Medication Administration, Blood Borne Pathogens Training, and Suicide Screener Training Video Instructions and Questionnaire [TRN10] for training in the use of the Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale.

Skills:

  • Knowledgeable of child welfare services, juvenile justice, and South Carolina law regarding child protection and trafficking in persons.
  • Ability to work effectively and proactively with providers and local entities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with people and agencies/organizations.
  • Fluent computer skills and working knowledge of GSuite and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to embody the core values of Doors to Freedom.
  • Detail-oriented and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
