Fiberglass and Gel-Coat Technician

Position Description

Position Summary:

The gel-coat technician is a full-time position, responsible for repairing boat gel coat damages, scratches, blemishes, respraying hulls and color matching. The gel-coat Technician is responsible for delivering the highest quality repairs for a variety of different boat brands between the sizes of 17ft-30ft. Technicians are provided all the raw materials needed to perform fiberglass repair but should be able to provide their own tools.

Essential Position Functions:

• Identify defects such as: cracks, blisters, stress fractures and cosmetic flaws.
• Perform minor to severe gel-coat repairs
• Deliver high-quality repairs
• Maintain all gel-coat and fiberglass materials
• Estimate repair times, plan for materials, coordinate jobs with management
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Expectations:

• 1 years of experience as a fiberglass specialist. Maritime experience preferred

• Ability to work independently, and complete tasks in a timely manner with little to no supervision
• Technician efficiency/productivity
• Basic computer skills required (familiarity with Fleetio a plus)
• Knowledge and familiarity with boats, boat mechanics, electrical diagnostics, boat systems, etc. required
• Basic tool knowledge is a must
• Ability to work outdoors in the heat for long hours
• Position may involve working weekends and holidays as needed
