The Department of Dining Services at the University of Connecticut has an immediate opening for full time; non-state Kitchen Assistants in its Catering Facilities. The ideal candidates should have experience in institutional or catering operations and delivery/driving experience. This position requires the loading and delivery of food items throughout campus.
**$500 bonus for all new hires that complete their working test period (120 working days). **
Duties include but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the catering area; works closely with the Catering Chef to insure a smooth, running catering operation. Responsible for kitchen production work to include such things as fruit platters, deli trays, cheese trays and vegetable trays for the Catering department. Will assemble all necessary equipment, products and supplies for several catering deliveries every day; will deliver and set-up catering orders. Drives catering vehicles as required. Must communicate status of all catering events to supervisor. May supervise student worker; maintains level of sanitation as prescribed by the office of Environmental Health and Safety. Properly disposes of trash and recyclables and assists other workers in the ongoing facility cleaning. Responsible for completing catering reports; complies with all departmental policies and performs other duties as required.

This is a non-state, union employment position. The final candidates for this position are subject to a thorough background search and pre-employment drug/alcohol screen. Candidates must possess a driver's license that is valid in the State of Connecticut.
The starting union rate is $16.95 per hour with a differential of $1.35 per hour. The schedules usually include nights and weekends
