Overview:

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily operation of the quality lab department and managing quality lab technicians.
• Support and maintain audit compliance for ISO9001. Oversee internal audit system.
• Oversee outside laboratory testing.
• Maintain customer and industry specifications.
• Manage and support quality system, continuous improvement process, and monthly KPI Reporting.
• Develop/Maintain SOPs and Forms and implement/conduct training.
• Equipment calibration and recording.
• Verify daily shipping and manufacturing audits.
• Track customer concerns within the Beta Steel Customer Concern system.
• Manage Root Cause, Corrective, and Preventative Action implementation.
• Monitor new trial orders/production.
• Monitor and provide disposition for materials identified as being non-conforming.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

• Associate degree in Material Science/Metallurgy or 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• 5 years with steel processing, annealing, and heat treatment process.
• 5 years in the manufacturing quality management, preferably in fastener manufacturing.
• Familiarity with automotive OEM supplier requirements (IATF16949/AIAG/VDA, etc.).
• IATF16949/VDA Internal Auditing certification.
• Experienced problem solver, with both statistical and analytical skills.
• Experience leading and managing employees.

Preferred Skills:

• Equipment experience including Tensile, Rockwell, Cut, Mount & Polish
• Fracture failure investigation (seams, laps, slivers, etc.)
• Rating steel microstructures (Pearlite, Spheroidize, decarb/carbon pick up, etc.).
• Experience in the automotive fastener industry.
• Interpretation of customer and industry specifications.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
