CGT Staffing is Hiring a Network Administrator Near State College, PA

Job Details

1. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, relocate, and replace network, CATV, and telecommunications equipment and hardware, such as fiber optic data cables, coaxial cables, telephones, phone lines, wireless access points,
transmitters, receivers, routers, firewall equipment, switches, media converters, power distribution units, and uninterruptible power supplies. Perform minor repairs, such as replacing hardware sub-components.
2. Pull, splice, terminate, and label cables; test cables and components for connection strength and/or to isolate the source of malfunction(s); interpret test readings and trouble reports to determine equipment repair needs.
3. Communicate with central office and/or customer to receive instructions, report equipment status, or locate and correct malfunction(s) on location.
4. Respond to requests for assistance regarding equipment or service issues; perform routine diagnosis to isolate hardware issues and/or equipment failure; request support from central office or appropriate vendor
when on-site procedures have failed to solve problem(s). Implement emergency procedures to ensure effective restoration of systems during outages or system failures.
5. Perform site surveys, using design drawings or work orders to verify installation or maintenance needs. Locate telecommunications closets in buildings. Locate cable pathways for PA1 calls and mark as required.
6. Read and interpret design drawings for accurate labeling of cable ports, network jacks, and equipment. Update design drawings or work orders to reflect minor changes and proper circuit ID/IP assignments; store in central repository. Log differences in circuit and cable colors. Report issues and needs for complex design changes to engineer, supervisor, or appropriate personnel.
7. Install predetermined configurations to equipment using plug-and-play process; report issues to central office.
8. Initiate program to encode or encrypt broadcast video signals for CATV equipment; integrate client channels to vendor cable lineup; coordinate with outside vendor for content allocation. Disconnect customers that are no longer utilizing service.
9. Perform confined-space entry procedures. Act as safety person for other employees entering confined spaces.
10. Demonstrate to customers the proper use of equipment.
11. Log actions when applicable to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
12. Perform preventative maintenance, such as cleaning switches, replacing contact points, testing uninterruptible power supplies, etc., as required. Report facility and building issues to appropriate personnel.
13. Maintain a supply of regularly used equipment, cables, and accessories; request additional parts and components to replenish inventory; organize equipment and maintain inventory records; make recommendations to supervisor when new equipment may be needed.
14. Conduct regular audits of equipment; inspect equipment to ensure proper functionality.
15. Answer questions for vendors, contractors, and part-time employees.
16. Use test meters, fiber detectors, portable computers, circuit diagrams, polarity probes, splicers, vacuums, and other hand tools. Calibrate test equipment, as needed.
17. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
18. Operate vehicle to travel to various University locations
