Description : Position Summary

Position Summary

This position will be responsible in assisting the Press Operator.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the pressman directly in all aspects of make readies and running a job.
  • Load raw material, make splices and verify that all splices are of good quality.
  • Assists operator in changeovers as needed
  • Assists operator during web breaks as needed
  • Labels finished rolls with correct neons & core tags as needed
  • Monitors roll changes and keeps abreast with roll numbers on log
  • Reports machine & equipment breakdown to supervisor & maintenance personnel
  • Understands and supports all policies, procedures, instructions, rules, and regulations (including safety) associated with the Finishing Department.
  • Always puts the goal to someday to be able to operate a press on his own.
  • Consults with department manager and Quality Assurance of any quality related defects
  • Assist in investigating root cause analysis & corrective actions for departmental needs
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Relocates skids keeping product separation in mind and maintaining the pressroom in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Responsible for complete all document information accurately.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must cover for operators while on vacation or breaks

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consults with Press Hall supervisor on all assigned duties.
  • All duties assigned to maximize efficiency of press hall equipment
  • Identify and help implement process improvements and increased productivity opportunities.

Requirements :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must understand upstream operations, downstream operations, and be able to perform each essential duty within the department satisfactorily.

Hands on knowledge of process is desired. Must be able to help troubleshoot equipment and provide feedback to department supervisor and maintenance personnel.

Must take initiative, be resourceful, and willing to accept responsibility and accountability. Always maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Required : The ability to be discreet with company confidential information, reports errors, incidents, and problems to appropriate personnel.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED required.
  • S.M.E.D. Training desired.
  • One (1) year of experience or more working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

Manufacturing environment exposure to some hazardous conditions but not limited to dust, dirt, high noise levels, chemicals, etc.

Safety regulations in place following OSHA guidelines.

  • Must be able to lift / push / pull up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of shift.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp, climb and reach frequently.
