Ophthalmic Technician

Busy ophthalmology practice located in Springfield, seeking a motivated Certified Ophthalmic technician to assist our doctors by collecting patient history, visual acuity and to perform testing. The ideal candidate must be a team player, have a knowledge of computers, be detail orientated and able to work in a friendly fast paced environment. Full time position available.

Job Overview:

*Complete preliminary patient evaluations with a high level of accuracy, efficiently and in accordance to company standards.

*Act as surgical scheduler educating patients on LASIK, PRK, ICL, and cataract surgeries. Schedule surgeries, communicate with other health care providers, prepare and upload necessary information, review consents with patients

*Gather and verify the patient's ocular history, medical history and chief complaint.

*Take ocular measurements as assigned by the physician (i.e., Manual Refraction Auto Refraction).

*Act as a scribe for the physician during patient visits

*Perform diagnostic tests as assigned by the physician (visual field, OCT, fundus photos, external photos, topography, FA's, color vision screening, stereo testing, VEP, ERG, HRT,......etc.).

*Administer ocular medications (eye drops/ointments) as requested by the physician.

* Assist the physician with office procedures (lesion excisions, YAG capsulotomy, YAG PI.... etc.).

*Willing to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice.

*Master all new skills within 6 months of their introduction.

*Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean work space.

*Assist with other assigned tasks not limited to the Clinical Department as directed by Management
