How You’ll Make An ImpactThe Staff Accountant is a hybrid role with flexibility to work both remotely and onsite at our South Windsor, CT facility, reporting to the site Controller. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the operation of the facility and the greater MRP corporate accounting team having primary responsibilities such as accounts receivable (AR) processing, billing, invoicing, collections and customer management as well as providing some accounts payable (AP) and general accounting support as needed.
A Day In The Life
  • Accounts Receivable (primary):
  • Generate invoices for customers accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Record and post payments received from customers.
  • Follow up with customers on overdue payments via phone and email.
  • Maintain customer accounts, including verifying customer information, conducting credit checks, monitoring credit limits, updating records, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Accounts Payable (secondary):
  • Receive, review, and process invoices from vendors accurately and promptly, ensuring appropriate approvals are received.
  • Prepare and schedule payments to vendors via check, ACH, wire transfer, or other methods as required.
  • Maintain vendor accounts, including verifying vendor information, updating records, and resolving any discrepancies.
  • General Accounting Support:
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and customers regarding payment status, inquiries, and discrepancies.
  • Support month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, accruals, bank reconciliations, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
  • Support external audit and tax preparation processes by providing documentation and answering inquiries.
  • Assist with other special projects and/or ad hoc tasks as assigned.
What We’re Looking ForBasic Requirements
  • Prior general accounting experience, including collections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software and other Microsoft Office 365 products (i.e., Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively identify and resolve discrepancies and issues.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal business partners, customers, and suppliers.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and adhere to ethical standards in all financial activities.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
