Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is announcing recruitment for a new Athletic Director. Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Athletic Director will have the responsibility of providing organizational leadership and guidance for all athletic team activities and ensure adherence to the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) compliance regulations. A robust Athletic Department has the strong potential for increasing and helping stabilize overall college enrollment. The Athletic Director will be responsible for student-athlete course success rates, timely degree completion, and supporting student athlete transfer to four-year institutions. This position will work closely with LTCC housing and basic needs departments to assist student-athletes in obtaining with these services.
LTCC currently competes in men’s soccer and women’s soccer through the CCCAA in the Golden Valley Conference (GVC). Since launching, the soccer program has had enthusiastic support from both the college and the community, with strong fan attendance at home games. Between the 2017-2019 seasons, the LTCC women’s teams were ranked nationally at least once each season with GVC champion wins in 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023 and made CCCAA Final Four appearances in 2018 and 2019. The men’s soccer program at LTCC won the GVC championship in 2014, 2015 and 2023, with national rankings in three seasons, 2014, 2015 and 2018, and made a CCCAA Final Four appearance in 2015.
In Fall 2023, LTCC expanded its athletic offerings by adding Cross Country, and took home first place for both men’s and women’s individual. In Winter 2024, LTCC will add Long-Distance Track including the 3000m, the 5000m, and the 10,000m races. The Lake Tahoe Basin provides a large recruiting advantage for endurance athletes due to the high elevation training opportunities.
APPLICATIONPROCESS:
After review, suitable applicants will be invited by phone or email on or around Monday, March 4, 2024 to participate in a skills assessment. Successful candidates will then be interviewed by a committee of approximately 5 individuals; these interviews are tentatively scheduled for March 11 & 12, 2024. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee an interview. LTCC reserves the right to return to the applicant pool at any point during the recruitment process.
COMPENSATION:
Salary Range: LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $81,321 to $89,764 annually, dependent on education and experience. There is potential to reach $104,038 annually, through step advancement plus longevity when appropriate. In addition to base salary, this position qualifies for extra bilingual (Spanish), masters or doctorate pay.
Benefits: Health and Welfare benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long term disability. Several plan options maintain a zero monthly premium cost from the employee and include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan that, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 27% of an eligible employee’s salary and contributes it into a CalPERS pension account for qualifying employees.
Work-Life Balance: This is an exempt positions with work expectation of 40 hours per week or greater and 12 months per year, including night and weekend requirements depending game schedules. It is understood that the demands of the Athletic Director position will require more than eight (8) hours a day or forty (40) hours per workweek. This position may qualify for the telecommute pilot program, which allows employees the opportunity to telecommute for up to 20% of the work week.
LTCC provides a generous leave package including 17 paid holidays per year plus 12 days vacation (with the potential to reach 24 days through years of service) and 12 days sick leave per year. Furthermore, LTCC has made a commitment to full closures during holiday breaks and several weekends adjoining holidays to provide employees the ability to take advantage of holiday and vacation usage.
