THE INS AND OUTS OF BEING A PAYROLL ACCOUNTANT

THE SCHEDULE:

You typically work from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

YOUR ROLE:

In this accounting position, your main focus is on ensuring our team members are properly compensated for their work and that all financial records are well-maintained. Attentive to every detail, you review timesheets, verify employee information, and process payroll transactions and adjustments. Using your knowledge of tax laws, you calculate and withhold taxes as well as file tax returns. You reconcile accounts, distribute reports, and look for any upgrades or improvements we could make to our payroll process. If anyone has any questions, you help them out as much as you can.

OUR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience with payroll processing or accounting
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Proficiency in financial software such as Sage HRMS, ADP, Paychex, or Workday
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong data analysis skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Access with a basic understanding of macros
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills

CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification would be a plus! Experience filing taxes in multiple states would also be a bonus.
