Operates sonographic and other related equipment and assists physicians as necessary to complete diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures for patients of all ages. Has a thorough knowledge of anatomy and pathology as it relates to ultrasound imaging. Coordinates patient flow and responsible for producing quality images efficiently and safely.
Performs diagnostic ultrasound exam. Proficient in abdominal, OB/GYN, pediatrics, neonatal, breast, small parts, interventional and vascular exams. Performs a variety of exams requiring independent judgment and initiative in acquiring and analyzing images. •Reviews patient history to assist in determining correct diagnosis. Provides a summary of findings to radiologists, assisting radiologist in determining diagnosis. Produces quality images. All completed images are of the ordered anatomy and/or pathology. Maintains equipment
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from an accredited ultrasound program. Preferred: Two years working as a sonographer in a hospital environment.
Certifications:
RDMS registry eligible. Obtains RDMS registry within 12 months of hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS), minimum. RDMS certification in abdominal, OB-GYN and RVT certification, preferred.
Work Experience:
Two years working as a sonographer in a hospital or outpatient imaging center or doctors office environment, minimum.
Two years in a 250 bed hospital, performing abdominal, OB-GYN and vascular procedures.
