PDI Ground Support Systems, Inc (“PDI”), a leading manufacturer of weapons handling systems and ground support equipment for the United States military, is looking for a world-class Engineering Manager (EM) to help lead the next generation of innovation.
The EM is responsible for overseeing the timely and budget-conscious completion of projects aligned with customer specifications. This role involves spearheading the planning and coordination of technical design projects, contributing to the development of ground support systems and aircraft support equipment for the Department of Defense (DoD), and verifying the precision of bills of materials and drawings. Additionally, the EM is tasked with team supervision, exploration of innovative products, and the implementation of strategies to ensure project success. Collaboration with production, purchasing, quality control, and senior leadership is integral. This position demands strong analytical, communication, and organizational proficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
· Evaluating customer requirements, mechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research and applying the principles of mechanics, hydraulics and materials.
· Identifying and recommending strategies for product cost reductions
· Identifying, evaluating, and updating Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for department
· Transforming existing data from 2D AutoCAD to 3D SolidWorks (as needed)
· Creating new/modified designs using SolidWorks
· Creating and modifying engineering procedures
· Entering new/modified bill of materials in the ERP system
· Facilitating cross-departmental communication and collaboration
· Directly interfacing with the customer
· Providing engineering support to the entire engineering department as needed
· Scheduling project due dates to meet customer expectations
· Participating in Senior Leadership meetings
Required Qualifications
· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
· 20 years of transferrable engineering experience
· 10 years managing direct reports
· Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with customers
· Ability to read 2D engineering drawings
· Strong understanding of weld procedures and material specifications
· Experience with AutoCAD, 3D modeling software (i.e., SolidWorks)
· Experience with an FEA system such as ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation
· Strong Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) knowledge/experience
Preferred Qualifications
· Master's degree
· Experience in the automotive industry
· Familiarity with Sage ERP software
